The current status of renovation (as on Jan 28 2008) is as follows as per information provided by the secretary. The Thirunangur Eleven Garudans Festival committe has gone ahead with the work for renovation of all the 12 Garuda Vahanams and also for the permanent ACC roofing of the festival venue.The finance for upto a little more than that required for renovation of 9 Garuda Vahanams has been received as donations.The bankers have agreed to provide a token loan of Rs 1 lac to the Secretary as an individual to finance the procurement of steel for the roofing.The committee earnestly believes that Azhwar and Emberumanar will shower their Katatcham to fully meet the finance requirements in time. As of now, there is no deadline for the receipt of donations. The actual payouts towards expenses for renovation of the vahanams are likely to extend well beyond the festival due on 7th February even if the vahanams are ready by that time. Particularly, the labour part of the cost is being deferred with the cooperation of the Sthapathy.
The vahanams are painted as a minimum for the festival if the work of copper encasing cannot be either completed or committed for shortage of funds. The plan is to complete the renovation by seeking donations until the Thiruppani is complete.
